VESUVIUS BAY
The Island's first settlers, 9 African-Americans came here in 1857 after buying their freedom from slavery. BC Ferries offers service from Vesuvius Bay to Crofton on Vancouver Island.
LONG HARBOUR
Links to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island and Tsawwassen on the BC Mainland.
LADY MINTO HOSPITAL
The only hospital in the Gulf Islands, Lady Minto features 50 beds with full facilities, emergency room and maternity rooms. The Island has approximately 12 doctors, including specialists.
ST. MARY LAKE
Channel Ridge overlooks St. Mary Lake, the largest fresh water lake on Salt Spring Island. The lake offers easy hiking trails, bird watching and fishing.
