A place to congregate

Think of Channel Ridge's Village Centre as a microcosm for all that is unique and textured about Salt Spring Island culture. Divided into three separate sectors - the Village Common, the Village Green and the Amenity Complex - each of these master-planned "mini-neighbourhoods" features a different aspect of island life.

With its pedestrian focus and soaring views out over Stuart Channel, the Village Common is reminiscent of older European towns - but with a distinctly West Coast feel. Given its local styling and user-friendly design - with its boutiques and bakery and grocery stores and restaurants all accessible to everyone - the Village Common will make everyday shopping a fun, and sociable, experience.

The Village Green, on the other hand, features an open-air public square overlooking a striking stand of Arbutus trees known as Madrona Grove. There are ponds, waterfalls and yet more scenic marine views. A quieter, more contemplative site than the bustling and commercial Common, the Village Green is sure to become a favourite destination for family walks and sunset picnics.

Finally, there is the Amenity Complex. Built into the slope on the southern edge of the Village Centre, the Complex offers everything residents will need for body and soul - whether fitness centre or art studio, wellness clinic or library. Other proposed amenities in the Complex will include an outdoor pool, meeting rooms and various therapy outlets.

From pedestrian-friendly shopping to outdoor gathering spots, the Village Centre at Channel Ridge offers many opportunities to interact with the out-of-doors, and is designed with one overall vision in mind: to celebrate to full advantage the island's mild climate and fresh, clean air.
